As 4kits has just purchased a T25 camper van, we’ve been even more interested in camping than usual.  We pick the van up on Saturday, and our first port of call will be www.coolcamping.co.uk to see the best campsites nearby for us to test out the new addition.

The Cool Camping concept was born after an idyllic weekend camping in spring 2005. A memorable sun-filled three days of walking, surfing, drinking cider at a country pub and trying to cook sausages on an extremely sloping barbecue.  There followed a trip to the local bookshop, but all the camping books were aimed at caravanners, and consisted of thousands of directory-style campsite listings. Not one book sorted the wheat from the chaff.  There was a desperate need for a book that understood contemporary campers and delivered what they wanted; a hand-picked selection of outstanding tent-oriented campsites.

This actually tells today’s campers what they want to know. What are the downsides of each site as well as the upsides? Where’s the nearest decent pub? What is there to do if it rains? Really useful stuff to make planning a camping weekend easy and fun.

They also sell a Cool Camping guide to Festivals, what more could you want!

For those not lucky enough to have their own camper van, why not check out http://www.festivalcaravans.co.uk and hire a caravan for a festival this year.  You won’t have the hassle of a campervan breaking down en-route to the festival (not that ours will!) as these guys will deliver the van to the festival site.

They rent out cheap and cheerful caravans for festivals and events; anywhere in the UK. It is the nicest thing to go to a festival in a caravan, especially in the UK and you also get your own toilet, which is a total luxury.  They  do have a small selection of vans with showers and they’re adding luxury vans one by one. You can keep everything dry and it means you’re not carrying stuff to the campsites except your belongings.

Genius Idea!

Welcome to the www.4Kits.co.uk blog.

Whilst there is no disputing that everyone should experience a Glastonbury or Leeds/Reading at least once in their lives, there is something to be said for the smaller festivals for a more intimate time.  When I was putting together the 2010 Festival Calendar I checked out a lot of them and two really stood out.

Glastonbudget on the 28th to 30th May is Europe’s largest tribute & new acts festival – simply genius!

www.glastobudget.net/home

Glastonbudget, the Mecca of Tribute, is now in its 6th year and saw more than 5,000 fans cram-in to see more that 130 amazing bands play 6 stages in May. Next year’s extravaganza of Europe’s best tribute bands and New Acts will be even better. Glastonbudget Music Festival 2010 takes place at Turnpost Farm in Wymeswold, Leicestershire on May 28th, 29th and 30th, 2010.

“Glastonbudget has always been about great music, and great value, this year was the greatest Glastonbudget ever, so we are celebrating and have decided to sell our budget festival tickets using the ultimate budget festival system. Rather like the budget airlines our tickets will be starting at 99p.” Chris Dunn (Co-Organiser)

Cockermouth Rock Festival – Cock Rock 2010 is held on the 16th – 18th July.

Wellington Farm, Cockermouth, Cumbria – www.cockermouthrockfestival.com

Cockermouth Rock Festival is an non profit festival set up to help provide support in the way of funding for two great local causes, The Pride of Cumbria Air Ambulance and the Cockermouth Mountain Rescue and to encourage and promote local bands and musicians.

After the recent flooding we think if any area needs support, it’s Cockermouth.  And come off it, who wouldn’t want to go to COCK ROCK!
